Senior Network Engineer
We’re seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join a national organisation operating network infrastructure for education, research, and innovation. This is a senior position within the Network Operations team, ensuring the ongoing availability, performance, and security of a large-scale, carrier-grade network.
What you’ll do:
- Design, implement, and maintain advanced network infrastructure, services, and connections.
- Configure and manage Juniper and Cisco routing/switching equipment, as well as BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and other protocols.
- Detect, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network faults and performance issues.
- Lead and mentor other Network Engineers, overseeing workload and development.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to deliver reliable, high-performance solutions.
- Participate in an on-call roster for after-hours support.
- At least 5+ years’ experience in large-scale data communication network environments, and ideally with a Telco background
- Extensive hands-on experience with Juniper MX and Cisco equipment and operating systems (including Cisco Switches)
- Strong knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF) and technologies such as MPLS, VPLS, VLAN, IPv6, and Multicast.
- You must be an AU Citizen to apply (bonus if you already have NV1 Clearance)

- This role will include some after-hours work and on-call. You'll be compensated for this.
- The salary on offer goes up to $160k base + very generous Superannuation.
- You must be Melbourne-based and happy to come into the office occasionally in North-East Melbourne (sometimes once a week)
