Senior Java Developer (Backend)

Senior Java Backend Developer - Permanent role: Melbourne based

If you are passionate about clean architecture, developing high-performance backend systems, and tackling real-world challenges at scale, this role is your chance to make a significant impact.  The team is roughly 20 Software Engineers all based here in Melbourne supported by a wider Tech Team with a Security, Infrastructure and Delivery Team.  

In a nutshell, this is what we need: 

• 8+ years experience, working in Java (using 17&21) + Springboot and experience with AWS or Azure.  We would love for you to be passionate about Backend! 
• The Senior Software Developer will take accountability of the solution delivery within the squad through hands on development, mentoring and enhancing internal standards to produce quality outcomes.  
• While React experience is advantageous, it is not mandatory.  We prefer a Backend Focused Dev. 
• Experience working in an AGILE/SCRUM team.
• As a Senior, we expect you to come with some mentoring experience and examples of times you've helped Juniors or if anything, do you have a shoulder they can cry on! 
• We are looking for Engineers with a mindset of always wanting to explore and not just take orders but happy to question things, suggest better ways of working, have a voice in the team!
• Experience or interest in AI Projects.

• Contribute to the advancement of our clients' new robust platform supporting numerous clients! (And the client base is growing fast!)
• Engage in the development of scalable Java 17 and 21/Spring Boot services within a modern cloud-native framework
• Influence engineering standards related to performance, security, and DevOps
• Collaborate with a team that prioritizes continuous learning, accountability, and technical expertise
