The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who can take full ownership of backend feature delivery, with deep technical capability and the ability to translate complex engineering concepts into solutions that genuinely meet user needs.
You’ll have experience operating in fast-growing, high-velocity product environments, ideally within SaaS. You understand the challenges engineers face when building at scale and have a strong command of design principles, allowing you to prioritise features and technical decisions effectively.
Your strength lies in bridging technical detail with business value, turning high-level ideas into practical, high-impact solutions. You thrive in ambiguity, adapt quickly, and excel in a flat, fast-moving environment.
We’re looking for someone who can quickly grasp the nuances and complexities of building advanced, data-driven products used across global markets.

What You’ll Do
- Work closely with senior engineering leadership to design and deliver cutting-edge backend systems.
- Independently deliver elegant, scalable and robust code with strong architectural thinking.
- Implement and optimise data storage solutions.
- Design, build and maintain high-performance backend services using Python.
- Architect and manage cloud infrastructure to ensure reliability, scalability and resilience.
- Develop and maintain message queue systems for real-time data processing.
- Collaborate with frontend, data and AI teams to integrate new features and improve existing APIs.
- Optimise API performance, manage versioning, and maintain documentation and testing processes.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong sense of ownership with excellent problem-solving skills.
- 5+ years of backend development experience.
- Proven experience with MongoDB and Redis.
- Experience building and managing message queue systems at scale.
- Ability to write clean, testable and maintainable code.
- Strong understanding of data modelling, design patterns and system trade-offs.
- Deep experience with API design, including security, performance and versioning.
- Knowledge of data and application security best practices.
- Experience integrating with external systems and third-party APIs.
- Competent with version control and modern CI/CD pipelines.
- Background in architecting highly available, scalable, secure and performant systems.
