We’re looking for a Senior DevOps Platform Engineer to lead a large-scale migration to GitHub Enterprise, helping shape the future of engineering across a modern Azure environment for our Financial Services client.
This is a hands-on contract role where you’ll design and deliver end-to-end migration patterns, establish GitHub best practices, and ensure seamless CI/CD capability across multiple teams.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead the migration of repositories from Bitbucket and Azure DevOps to GitHub Enterprise
- Design and implement scalable, repeatable migration patterns
- Rebuild and optimise CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
- Ensure full parity across build, test, security, and deployment workflows
- Implement secure cloud deployment using OIDC (no long-lived credentials)
- Establish GitHub governance: branch protections, environments, permissions, and secrets
- Configure runners, environments, and deployment controls
- Enable logging, auditing, and reporting across the platform
- Support teams with templates, onboarding, and best practices
- Work closely with Platform, Security, and Engineering teams to deliver migration waves
- Provide clear updates on risks, progress, and key decisions
- Strong experience migrating to GitHub Enterprise
- Hands-on expertise with GitHub Actions and CI/CD design
- Solid experience with Azure and automated cloud deployments
- Experience with OIDC or federated identity in cloud environments
- Deep understanding of Git (branches, tagging, repo strategies)
- Knowledge of GitHub governance and platform standards
- Experience with GitHub Packages/artifact management
- Exposure to enterprise-scale platform or cloud transformations
- Background working with security and architecture teams
- Own and shape a major engineering platform migration
- Work with modern tooling across GitHub and Azure
- High visibility role with real impact across multiple teams

Our client is based in Melbourne CBD with 2-3 days p/w in office, the rest from home.
Although this contract will initially go for 3 months, there's high liklihood of extension.
