We're looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join our Engineering team in Sydney. This is an exciting opportunity to work on diverse and technically challenging electronic security projects, providing engineering expertise from concept through to commissioning.
Working alongside Project Managers, Sales, Estimating and Service teams, you'll play a critical role in delivering innovative integrated security solutions for a broad range of commercial, industrial and critical infrastructure projects.
About the Role
As a Project Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across the entire project lifecycle, including tender support, detailed design, engineering documentation, project delivery and system commissioning.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining technical design with practical project delivery and takes pride in producing high-quality engineering outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering
- Review project documentation, specifications and design briefs to understand project scope and contractual requirements.
- Develop detailed engineering documentation including:
- Security layouts
- Schematics and wiring diagrams
- Network diagrams
- Panel layouts and rack elevations
- Installation details
- Point schedules and as-built documentation
- Design integrated electronic security solutions including:
- CCTV
- Electronic Access Control Systems (EACS)
- Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems (PIDS)
- Intercom and SIP communication systems
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable standards and client requirements.
- Support projects from concept through to final commissioning.
- Stage equipment and undertake factory acceptance testing.
- Produce construction and as-built documentation.
- Identify technical risks, design issues and project variations.
- Perform QA/QC reviews and maintain design integrity throughout project delivery.
- Support Sales and Estimating teams during tender submissions.
- Review technical compliance requirements.
- Prepare Bills of Quantities (BoQs).
- Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure equipment selections meet project specifications and relevant standards.
- Develop commissioning documentation including Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Inspection and Test Records (ITRs), and Commissioning Plans.
- Conduct site audits, system testing and integrated commissioning.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants and project stakeholders.
- Attend project meetings and workshops, providing professional technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
You are a motivated engineer with strong technical knowledge of integrated electronic security systems and enjoy working collaboratively across multiple project teams.
You will also bring:
- Experience designing integrated electronic security systems
- Strong AutoCAD (or equivalent CAD) skills
- Knowledge of networking principles and security system integration
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
