This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of environmental science, data systems and large-scale program delivery - helping build a production-ready system that supports real-world decision making during flood events.
About the Role
You’ll take ownership of a high-impact project focused on delivering an upgraded forecasting and warning system, working closely with technical specialists, government stakeholders and delivery partners.
This is not a pure IT or infrastructure role. It sits in the middle, requiring someone who can confidently navigate technical, environmental and stakeholder complexity.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead end-to-end project delivery (scope, schedule, budget, risk)
- Work across multidisciplinary teams including modelling, data and operational stakeholders
- Engage closely with government agencies and external partners
- Oversee vendors and ensure delivery of a production-ready system
- Drive clear reporting, governance and decision-making across the program
- Proven experience delivering complex projects in environments such as water, environmental, infrastructure or scientific domains
- Exposure to projects involving hydrology, hydraulics, flood modelling or forecasting systems (highly regarded, not essential)
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills across multiple organisations and disciplines
- Experience delivering systems or platforms (not just policy or strategy)
- Ability to operate in ambiguity and bring structure to complex programs
If you’ve delivered complex project management outcomes, particularly within flood risk management, flood forecasting or warning system environments, and enjoy working across technical teams and diverse stakeholders - I’d love to hear from you.
