Program Architect
Contract | Full-time | Western Sydney | Until June 2027
We're partnering with a large NSW Government agency undergoing one of the most significant technology transformations in its history. At the centre of this work is a shift away from legacy systems toward a modern, integrated platform designed to improve operational outcomes across the state. This is a rare opportunity to own the architecture of a high-profile, mission-critical program portfolio inside a complex and deeply interesting environment.
This is not an advisory role. You will be the named technical delivery lead across a portfolio of programs, working closely with the Chief Enterprise Architect and a team of solution architects to make sure every project initiative is designed, governed, and delivered to standard.
What You'll Be Doing
- Owning the program roadmap and solution architecture across a portfolio of interconnected programs
- Acting as the technical delivery lead for each project initiative within the portfolio
- Ensuring all architectures align to the agency's EA Framework and Solutions Architecture Framework
- Managing architecture risks and driving risk mitigation across the portfolio
- Collaborating with internal solution architects, developers, and delivery teams to resolve technical design challenges
- Acting as the lead technical representative in dealings with third-party vendors and system integrators
- Mentoring and guiding other architects within the program
- Presenting to steering committees, governance forums, and senior stakeholders
Essential
- 15+ years in IT, with 10+ years as a senior architect
- Demonstrated experience leading programs valued at $10M+
- Knowledge of TOGAF (certification highly regarded)
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Integration architecture depth across APIs, iPaaS, and ESB platforms
- Strong stakeholder management skills at executive level
- Australian citizen eligible for baseline security clearance
Highly Desirable
- Prior experience in NSW or Federal Government
- Experience with legacy system modernisation and mainframe environments
- Knowledge of SDLC, SOA, and digital transformation delivery
- Familiarity with SPARX Enterprise Architect or similar EA tooling
- Existing baseline or higher security clearance
