Position Description
Title: Process Lead / Process Transformation Lead (Enterprise Process Uplift)
Location: Sydney (Hybrid)

Role Overview
NSW Government organisation is undertaking an enterprise-wide uplift to improve how business processes are documented, owned, maintained and continuously improved. This role will lead the establishment of a central process repository, uplift the organisation's approach to process design and documentation, and embed sustainable ways of working that support delivery, governance and continuous improvement.

This role blends process leadership, technical acumen, and delivery capability. It is suited to someone who sits comfortably between business and technology, with the ability to drive outcomes rather than simply produce documentation.

As Process Lead, you will work across the organisation to bring together fragmented process artefacts into a single view of truth, define practical standards and frameworks, and deliver tangible uplift while the capability is still being built.

Key Objectives
  • Establish a single enterprise repository for business process documentation
  • Lead the documentation of core organisational processes in a fit-for-purpose manner
  • Define and embed new ways of working for how processes are governed, maintained and improved
  • Balance documentation with practical delivery and measurable improvement outcomes
  • Support leadership decision-making through improved visibility and prioritisation of process areas
  • Enable ongoing process maturity rather than a one-off documentation exercise
Key Responsibilities Process Leadership & Strategy
  • Lead the design and rollout of an enterprise-wide process management approach
  • Shape how the organisation documents, governs and improves processes at scale
  • Establish consistent standards for process modelling, ownership and lifecycle management
  • Define operating models for how process ownership works across business units
Delivery & Execution
  • Own the implementation of the central process repository
  • Drive documentation of priority processes through sprint-based delivery
  • Balance foundational documentation with continuous improvement delivery
  • Deliver incrementally and demonstrate value along the way
  • Adapt delivery approach in response to leadership priorities and organisational readiness
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Work closely with senior leaders, business owners and subject matter experts
  • Influence without reliance on formal authority
  • Manage competing priorities across functions
  • Build buy-in for pragmatic and sustainable process practices
Governance & Continuous Improvement
  • Define controls for quality, governance and maintenance of process artefacts
  • Establish feedback loops and measurement practices
  • Ensure the repository remains relevant, usable and valuable long-term
  • Enable transition from implementation to a mature process capability
Skills & Experience Essential
  • Proven leadership in enterprise process transformation
  • Experience implementing process repositories / BPM platforms
  • Strong delivery background across large, complex organisations
  • Demonstrated ability to balance documentation with real-world outcomes
  • Deep understanding of process design, modelling and governance
  • Experience working within matrixed organisations
  • Ability to influence across technical, business and executive audiences
  • Comfortable operating where priorities shift and ambiguity exists
Desirable
  • Experience in financial services, insurance or regulated environments
  • Exposure to BPMN and enterprise architecture concepts
  • Familiarity with sprint-based or agile delivery models
  • Experience operating at transformation / enterprise level rather than team-level only
Personal Attributes
  • Outcome-driven rather than document-driven
  • Pragmatic with strong commercial judgement
  • Comfortable challenging assumptions respectfully
  • Confident operating at executive level
  • Resilient in a changing environment
  • Able to navigate politics without losing integrity
  • Balanced in thinking between strategic and operational
Success in the Role Looks Like
  • A functioning, adopted central process repository
  • Core processes documented and actively used
  • Clear ownership and accountability models
  • Leadership visibility on process maturity and priorities
  • Evidence of improvement delivered during documentation
  • A sustainable framework that continues beyond the role
