Our client is a well known QLD brand, working with Queenslanders to help improve their lives! They are currently in the midst of a large transformation and as a result, are scaling their cloud platform team. In this role, you will get the opportunity to work some of the most cutting edge technology in the Brisbane market. Although this role is mostly work from home, you will need to be based in the Brisbane region to go into the office once per week.
Overview of the role:
The Principal Cloud Platform Engineer is a senior-level role, responsible for both technical leadership and being hands on, setting up Infrastructure as code, unit testing, orchestration, and writing API's around this. You will be working on an internal PaaS platform which is built across AWS, CDK, Kubernetes, Microservices & Gitlab CI. The platform is not clickops, but an environment that is a system of software and code driven approaches. This role will suit someone with good development skills (Typescript, Java or Python).
What you will specifically be doing:
- Working on technology across AWS, CDK (Java & Typescript), Kubernetes, Microservices, Gitlab CI, Cloudformation & Ansible
- Enabling the developers to deliver consistent, reliable, fast and secure cloud services
- Ensuring the platform is compliant and secure from a security perspective
- Working closely with your team of engineers to ensure best practice across these technologies and methodologies
- Hands on experience with AWS, Infrastructure as code, Containers, CI/CD pipelines
- Ideally, you will have experience building infrastructure as code platforms; using CDK or Cloudformation (Terraform is nice to have too)
- You will have worked with Kubernetes, ideally building out EKS clusters from scratch
- Experience working closely with developers to ensure they can release applications to the cloud
- Experience being a senior figure in a team of engineers
