Are you an Operational Technology (OT) Network Engineer who's equally comfortable in a client meeting as you are in a rack room? This is a great opportunity to join a market-leading technology business where you'll shape how industrial customers - in mining, utilities, transport, and related sectors - design and deploy their networks as they relate to this organisations product.
Working closely with customers from initial discovery through to solution delivery, you'll act as a trusted technical advisor, translating complex networking challenges into clear, practical architectures built around a physical hardware product portfolio.
The Role
This is a split-focus role — roughly 50% network solutioning/presales and 50% hands-on OT network engineering and support. On any given week you might be presenting a proposed network design to a mining operations team, then turning around to commission and validate that same solution in the field.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Pre-sales engagement activities with potential and existing clients, identifying and designing network solutions for the implementation of hardware products.
- This includes analysis, solution design, development of bills of materials, and providing expertise and direction on proposed designs and solutions.
- Support customers by providing consultative network engineering services and technical support.
- Provide engineering support to internal and external sales teams to achieve business objectives.
- Develop and deliver Proof of Concept (PoC) testing, validation, reporting, and demonstrations for customers.
- Assist in managing product warranty and repair processes between customers and suppliers.
- Test, evaluate, and report on the capability and performance of products and solutions, reviewing problem logs to identify recurring issues and recommend improvements.
What You’ll Bring
Technical skills:
- Proven experience designing and implementing OT network solutions
- Architecture and configuration of TCP/IP-based networks (switching and routing)
- Network redundancy and industrial communication protocols
- Wireless networking technologies and standards
- OT infrastructure hosting including hypervisors and edge computing technologies
- Confident and credible in client-facing settings
- Commercial awareness and the ability to connect technical recommendations to business outcomes
- Self-starter with a ‘make it happen’ attitude
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Collaborative team player who contributes to the growth of those around them
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Network Engineering, Information Technology, or Telecommunications
- Industry certifications: Cisco CCNA certification or above is essential
