What We Are Looking For
My client is seeking an experienced Virtualisation Administrator to join their Global Infrastructure team as part of a VMware to OpenShift VM migration program.
Ideally, you’ll have at least 2+ years in OpenShift Virtualisation administration with strong Kubernetes knowledge and the ability to manage complex virtual environments.

Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure and maintain VMware and OpenShift Virtualisation clusters on-premises
- Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues and ensure optimal operation and high availability
- Manage user access, permissions and security best practices for containerised applications
- Collaborate with development and engineering teams to optimise applications running on OpenShift
- Lead conversions from VMware to OpenShift Virtualisation and manage existing VMware environments
Core Technical Skills
OpenShift & Kubernetes
• Deep understanding of OpenShift architecture and components.
• Experience with OpenShift CLI (oc), Operators, and troubleshooting.
• Kubernetes fundamentals: pods, deployments, services, RBAC, etc.
OpenShift Virtualisation (CNV / KubeVirt)
• Creating and managing VMs within OpenShift.
• VM templates, disk management, live migration, and performance tuning.
• Integration of KubeVirt with OpenShift
MTV (Migration Toolkit for Virtualisation)
• Hands-on experience migrating VMs from VMware vSphere to OpenShift Virtualisation.
• Familiarity with MTV architecture: source providers, migration plans, hooks.
• Pre-migration assessments, cutover strategies, and rollback planning.
• Troubleshooting migration failures and optimising performance post-migration.
• Experience with cold and warm migration strategies
Storage & Networking
• Persistent storage: Ceph, NFS, CSI drivers.
• Advanced networking: Multus CNI, SR-IOV, bridge interfaces.
• Network policies and VM connectivity in hybrid environments.
