Are you a hands-on Network Technician who enjoys working in the field, solving complex technical challenges, and delivering critical network infrastructure? We're partnering with a leading Australian organisation that operates one of the country's most advanced national network environments, supporting research, education, and innovation across Australia.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly skilled technical operations team where you'll play a key role in deploying, maintaining and supporting a large-scale fibre and IP network.

About the Role

As a Network Field Technician, you'll be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance and support of network infrastructure across customer and data centre environments. This is a predominantly field-based position with regular travel throughout Australia, working on new deployments, upgrades, fault restoration and network expansion projects.
You'll work independently while collaborating with experienced engineering teams to deliver high-quality network services across mission-critical environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, commission and upgrade network infrastructure and telecommunications equipment.
  • Perform fibre optic testing using OTDRs, power meters and associated test equipment.
  • Configure and provision network services.
  • Execute testing and commissioning plans.
  • Lead and perform service migrations, including after-hours maintenance activities.
  • Diagnose and restore network faults across fibre and IP environments.
  • Work closely with engineering teams and third-party providers to resolve incidents.
  • Produce accurate technical documentation and service handover reports.
  • Assist with network audits, service provisioning and ongoing operational improvements.
  • Participate in an on-call roster and planned maintenance windows.
About You

You'll be a self-motivated technician who enjoys working autonomously, travelling to customer sites and solving technical problems in the field.
You'll ideally have:
  • 2-5 years' experience as a Network or Telecommunications Technician.
  • Experience installing and supporting telecommunications or enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Experience working within data centre or colocation environments.
  • Strong knowledge of fibre optic technologies, including OTDR testing and power measurements.
  • Experience with network commissioning, service provisioning and fault diagnostics.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and documentation abilities.
  • Current Australian Driver's Licence.
  • Australian Citizenship (essential).
Highly regarded:
  • Experience with DWDM or optical transmission technologies.
  • Telecommunications, Engineering or related technical qualifications.
What's on Offer
  • Permanent full-time opportunity based in Brisbane.
  • Work on one of Australia's most advanced national network environments.
  • Exposure to large-scale fibre, IP and optical networking technologies.
  • Ongoing technical training and career development.
  • National travel across Australia.
  • Supportive, highly skilled engineering team.
  • Excellent long-term career progression.
  • Attractive salary package and outstanding employee benefits.
If you're looking for a role where you'll work on critical national infrastructure, develop your technical capability and be part of an organisation delivering technology that genuinely makes a difference, we'd love to hear from you.
