About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Monitoring Specialist
with strong background in the Elastic Stack
to work across a critical defence program on an initial 12-month contract.
This will be a Linux based role utilising both on-premise and cloud infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain monitoring solutions using the Elastic Stack (ELK + Beats) across on-prem and cloud environments.
- Develop and manage data pipelines (e.g., Logstash, Beats, or custom agents) to collect and normalize telemetry, log, and event feeds from distributed systems.
- Create and maintain dynamic, actionable Kibana dashboards to visualize infrastructure performance, availability, and security.
- Onboard new data sources into the Elastic Stack, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and consistency of ingested data.
- Integrate monitoring feeds from applications, platforms, network devices, containers, and third-party systems.
About You:
- Experience working in Defence as a on monitoring and data ingestion.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in Linux servers and virtual systems in hyper-converged infrastructure and across distributed environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with the Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Beats).
- Solid understanding of log aggregation, metrics collection, and event-driven monitoring practices.
- Experience working in distributed system environments, including hybrid cloud or containerized platforms.
- Familiarity with scripting (e.g., Python, Shell), Linux administration, and common monitoring protocols (e.g., syslog, SNMP, HTTP APIs).
