Java Engineer

Java Developer – Contract 

Sydney | $750–$900 per day

We are supporting a Big Four consultancy delivering a major enterprise integration programme and are looking to engage an experienced Java Developer on a 12-month contract. The role sits within a collaborative engineering team responsible for delivering scalable APIs and integration services across multiple enterprise platforms.

This opportunity will suit a developer with strong Java and API integration experience, particularly someone comfortable working with both modern RESTful services and legacy SOAP integrations within enterprise environments.


Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Java-based integration services and APIs.
• Develop and support RESTful and SOAP web services across enterprise systems.
• Work within a MuleSoft integration environment to deliver scalable integrations.
• Troubleshoot and optimise integrations to ensure performance, security, and stability.

Experience

Required

• Strong commercial experience developing with Java in enterprise environments.
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Experience working with SOAP-based web services.
• Exposure to MuleSoft or similar integration platforms.
• Experience working across enterprise integration or distributed systems.

Desirable

• Experience within large enterprise or consulting environments.
• Exposure to API gateways, microservices architecture, or event-driven systems.
• Experience working with cloud environments and CI/CD pipelines.

This is a 6 - 12-month contract offering $750–$900 per day, based in Sydney with hybrid working arrangements.
