What are the responsibilities of the role?
● Creating and developing, and supporting the network and solutions based on
devices, sensors and software
● Assisting and supporting RF coverage predictions. Testing and ongoing support
of coverage.
● Researching, creating, testing and documenting IoT solutions
● Be part of the IoT Team to support networks and solutions.
● Providing solutions to issues related to the connection of networks and platforms
● Analysing user needs and working as service designers to support pre-sales on
customer solutions
● Working with the Service Delivery team to implement IoT Solutions, confirming
They are delivered to specification and meet customer needs
● Working with the Operations team to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues at
an IoT Network, device and platform level
Skills of an IoT Engineer
Essential Skills:
● Technical working knowledge of LoRaWAN - Actility software desirable but not
essential.
● In depth understanding of IoT Technologies - including an understanding of
NBIoT, Sigfox, and other proprietary IoT Communications technologies
● Industry experience in IOT solutions - Desirable to understand SCADA
● Knowledge of sensors and devices and their function and use in IoT use cases
● Working knowledge of common programming languages such as JavaScript,
Node.js, python and embedded systems - highly desirable
● IoT engineers must also be familiar with the concept of big data, machine
learning algorithms
● Firm understanding of IoT architecture and principles as well as device and data
security
● Experience working with front-end and back-end systems
● Work and collaborate well with others
● Strong communication skills
● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
