National Consultancy - Full-Time | Sydney
Salary - 220k-250k + super
I'm looking for an IT Architect/Principal to join a national Consultancy to lead the design and assurance of enterprise‑grade infrastructure solutions supporting a major national energy transformation program.
This is a high‑impact opportunity to shape a regulator‑credible, future‑ready infrastructure design that integrates IT, OT‑adjacent systems, and complex joint venture components across a dynamic program environment.
About the Role
You will be accountable for developing and governing end‑to‑end on‑premise infrastructure designs that meet stringent regulatory and cyber compliance obligations within the enterprise sector.
Working in close collaboration with client technology leaders, delivery partners, and third‑party providers, you'll provide architectural leadership to de‑risk compliance, enhance resilience, and create designs any managed service provider can operate with confidence.
This role will evolve from design into delivery oversight — guiding implementation and ensuring architectural integrity alongside delivery partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and design of complex on‑prem and hybrid infrastructure for a regulated energy environment.
- Collaborate across business, cyber, and operations teams to deliver secure, robust, and scalable designs.
- Conduct and chair design reviews under client Design Authority governance structures.
- Produce decision logs, assumptions, and trade‑off documentation to maintain design integrity.
- Manage and communicate with senior client stakeholders, JV partners, and MSP evaluators.
- Provide expert consultancy ensuring solutions align with compliance obligations and operational readiness.
- Extensive consulting background in IT infrastructure architecture and design, ideally from a top‑tier consulting environment.
- Deep experience in on‑premises data centres, control centres, communications, and monitoring infrastructures.
- Proven experience designing at the IT/OT boundary — comfortable engaging with EMS/SCADA ecosystems.
- Demonstrated ability to drive decisions, surface risks early, and manage complex dependencies with minimal escalation.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including executive reporting.
- Hands‑on experience in project/program delivery within regulated or critical infrastructure sectors such as energy, water, or transport.
- Understanding of regulatory evidence expectations and staged handovers from EPC or JV delivery models.
- Ability to arbitrate between cyber, infrastructure, and data constraints while maintaining business alignment.
