This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of Technology to join a well established cutting edge Digital business who is a Tech First company.

Important bits: 
3-6 Direct reports who call themselves mostly Platform, Delivery and Engineering managers.  Indirectly you have about 30-40 in your squad (perm and contractors all mostly in Melbourne, of these are mostly Lead, Principal Engineers, Software Engineers, Senior BA's etc.

What are the expectations... 

  • A senior leadership position part of with primary accountability for delivery of business outcomes through technology and ownership technology platforms, aligned with organisation strategic priorities. This basically means you'll be working with some of Melbourne's finest Techies to deliver best in class support practices for feature and technical components part of the Technology domain.
  • The Head of Technology is a leader of leaders and specialists spanning design, engineering, delivery and operations of technical solutions to deliver portfolio and technical systems that underpin them.
  • Leading people performance and development to deliver a high-performance culture and team, ensuring retention of IP and have a team that is committed continually develop and deploy new products to customers.
  • As a Technology Value Stream lead, when required, you’ll hold a senior co-leadership role (2 in a box), partnering with a commercial leader to drive innovation and deliver products in a strategic business area. Together with your commercial co-lead, you’ll set the direction for across functional team, focusing on results through a value stream vision and OKRs.

TEAM LEADERSHIP

 Creating an environment and culture for team members to strive and deliver fantastic outcomes, enabling high levels of engagement and retention of staff
 Understand the learning objectives of the team and ensure their needs are met
 Ensuring that all single points of failure are removed out of the team and keeping knowledge balanced across multiple team members
 Ensure team members direct and indirect, receive regular feedback via 1:1s and other conversations
 Providing appropriate and timely feedback to team members, ensuring all team members have development plans and have opportunity to develop new skills and capabilities
 Develop strategies and activities that help to maintain or improve employee engagement
 Be a constructive and highly motivated member of your Domain LT, Project/Program LT and Tech ELT by proactively collaborating with peers


DELIVERY
 Ensure teams are skilled, equipped and have suitable development to:
o Continuously and efficiently deliver outcomes in line with client's priorities
o Manage stakeholder expectations across a range of commercial and technical
outcomes
o Identify and remove impediments, prevent distractions that interfere with team goals
 Establish a technology ownership capability that leverages the principles and goals of product ownership / management to:
o Proactively engage with all platform stakeholders to identify the various needs from
stakeholders
o establish a clear voice of the customer / consumer within the team
o align roadmaps and architectures to the needs of the consumer
o validate platform usage through metrics and identify ways to continually improve the platform

Platform Operational Management
Within the scope of platforms in your domain:
 Provide continual support and maintenance of your platforms to ensure they run at peak performance, meeting or exceeding service level expectations
 Ensure that appropriate support resourcing and capabilities are in place to meet 24x7 demands with appropriate levels of staffing based on the demand required throughout the year

Technology Strategy, Architecture and Roadmap
 In conjunction with our client's Architecture capability, developing, communicating and sharing a strategic platform architecture and roadmap to the broader consumers and customers platforms within your domain
 Ensure that the platform architecture and roadmap capture both a current and future state, articulating the key maintenance or enhancement initiatives that are planned for the coming 3, 6 and 12 months’ timeframes


WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU: 
 At least 10 years’ leadership experience in digital product development and agile delivery; including proven experience (roughly 3yrs +)  in a "Head of "role. 
 Proven experience in a role leading a 30+ cross functional technical design, delivery and support team and come from a Tech Background where you can support Tech conversations, influence and challenge discussions.  (Enough to be dangerous!)
 An accomplished Technology leader who has successfully lead significant Technology initiatives
