- Real engineering problems at scale: high volume device data, integration complexity, and availability that customers actually depend on
- A small development team where your work ships and your input on architecture genuinely lands
- Reporting to the Head of Development, with the chance to influence product direction, not just close tickets
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs, webhooks and backend services consumed by connected devices, with an eye on performance and system design
- Design, optimise and maintain database structures, and build the data extraction and processing pipelines that sit behind them
- Use AWS to build secure, highly available systems, working with the team on CI/CD, deployments, infrastructure as code and scaling
- Own features end to end: design, build, deploy, monitor, iterate
- Work directly with clients and partners on requirements and troubleshooting, and give technical direction to external contractors
- 5+ years in software development, ideally on SaaS or distributed systems
- 3+ years commercial JavaScript and TypeScript, including Node.js and Express.js
- Strong SQL: schema design, indexing, performance tuning and query optimisation
- Hands on AWS: EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, IAM, S3, CloudWatch, SNS/SQS
- A solid grasp of secure coding: authentication and authorisation, encryption, API security and OWASP practices
