We are seeking an experienced Data-Centric Security Expert for a 3-month contract to join a specialist Data & AI team working on a highly sensitive, large-scale program within a secure government environment. This role focuses on designing and enabling secure, compliant data sharing across federated and multinational networks, supporting complex operational and information-sharing requirements.

You will work closely with data architects, engineers, and security stakeholders to ensure data is protected, governed, and shared appropriately across classified and mission-critical environments. This is a hands-on contract role requiring deep technical expertise, strong stakeholder engagement, and a practical understanding of secure data exchange in constrained and high-assurance settings.

Key Responsibilities

Data Protection & Compliance

  • Design and implement data-centric security controls for sensitive and mission-critical information.
  • Ensure solutions align with recognised federated networking and interoperability frameworks and associated security standards.
  • Support security assurance activities, including compliance, accreditation, and risk management.
Secure Data Sharing
  • Design and advise on policies for controlled data access and secure information sharing across federated partners.
  • Apply encryption, data labelling, meta-tagging, and identity-based access controls to protect data throughout its lifecycle.
  • Enable monitoring and validation of data flows to prevent unauthorised access, leakage, or compromise.
Collaboration & Interoperability
  • Work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders to align data security practices with multinational interoperability requirements.
  • Design and support secure information-sharing capabilities to integrate mission systems into federated environments.
  • Provide guidance on secure data exchange to support joint operations, exercises, and collaborative activities.
Governance & Standards
  • Maintain strong knowledge of relevant interoperability architectures, security profiles, and implementation guidelines.
  • Interpret and apply international standards related to information assurance, cryptographic interoperability, and coalition data exchange.
  • Develop documentation, guidance materials, and internal training to support compliance with security frameworks.
Contract & Security Requirements
  • 3-month contract, with potential for extension subject to project needs.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance (baseline required; higher levels preferred).
  • Australian citizenship (or equivalent eligibility) is required due to the nature of the work.
