This is a critical leadership role responsible for driving quality assurance across modern data platforms, cloud environments, and enterprise reporting solutions. You will play a key role in ensuring trusted, accurate, and compliant data products are delivered in line with strict governance and regulatory standards.
The Opportunity You will lead end-to-end testing strategy and execution across data platforms, pipelines, BI solutions, and regulatory reporting outputs.
Working closely with data engineers, governance teams, product owners, and senior stakeholders, you’ll ensure data accuracy, integrity, performance, and compliance before release.
This role requires strong hands-on capability combined with leadership experience across distributed teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and implement the Quality & Test Strategy across Data & Analytics initiatives
- Lead test planning, design, execution, and reporting across:
- ETL & Data Warehouse testing
- BI & reporting validation (front-end and back-end)
- Integration, regression, performance & non-functional testing
- Automation and CI/CD integration
- Validate end-to-end data pipelines, transformations, models, and APIs
- Establish robust data quality control,s including profiling, reconciliation, and anomaly detection
- Ensure regulatory reporting readiness, including traceability and test evidence
- Manage test environments, test data provisioning, and tooling
- Drive defect triage and resolution processes
- Provide quality metrics and risk reporting to senior stakeholders
- Lead and mentor a geographically distributed testing team
- 5–8+ years’ experience testing Data Warehousing / BI solutions
- Strong hands-on experience in:
- ETL testing
- Data warehouse validation
- Reporting & analytics testing
- Advanced SQL skills (complex validation queries across platforms such as Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata, Snowflake, Postgres, Redshift, etc.)
- Strong data validation and profiling capability using SQL and/or Python
- Experience across cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Databricks)
- Test management tooling experience (Jira, XRay, Zephyr, Tosca, or similar)
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing enterprise-level test strategies
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Experience within regulated environments (financial services, insurance, or similar)
- Exposure to regulatory data programs
- MDM testing experience
- Knowledge of ML/AI model testing
- Experience with ETL tools such as Informatica, SSIS, SAP Data Services, AWS Glue or Azure Data Factory
- Exposure to reporting tools such as Cognos, Power BI, Tableau or Qlik
- 12-month contract with strong extension potential (18–24 months)
- Hybrid model – 5-day fortnight in-office
- Sydney-based role (onshore presence required due to data environment access)
