12 Month, Daily Rate Contract

We are partnering with a leading digital platform organisation to engage a Solution Architect for a major global platform transformation programme. This is a high impact contract role working on a complex, event driven, distributed system supporting real time, high volume transactions across multiple international markets.
The platform is built predominantly on in-house Java based services with extensive internal and external integrations. We are seeking a strong software focused architect who understands how modern Java applications are designed, integrated, and scaled within distributed environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design end to end solution architectures across distributed, Java-based systems
- Define event-driven integration patterns and messaging strategies
- Architect Kafka-based event streaming solutions
- Work closely with engineering teams across Australia and Europe
- Contribute to architectural governance, design reviews, and technical standards
- Balance strategic platform direction with practical delivery requirements
- Strong background in software engineering or application architecture
- Solid understanding of Java-based application ecosystems
- Proven experience designing event-driven architectures
- Experience working with Kafka and messaging platforms
- Deep understanding of distributed systems and integration patterns
- Experience operating in high scale, high-availability digital environments
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical and business stakeholders
- Previous experience in high-transaction environments is highly advantageous but not mandatory.
WFH: 2-3 days per week in CBD Office
