Gordon said PRA had launched a new LinkedIn group where its contractors could discuss industry trends and issues, as part of a concerted effort to increase its interaction with its candidates. The group had grown to more than 500 members in the two weeks since its inception, he said. Gordon noted that according to the latest data from the Australian ICT Statistical Compendium, domestic ICT tertiary enrolment had dropped 42% since 2001. With the IT skills shortage set to worsen, gaining the loyalty of technology candidates was critical. "The LinkedIn group is the first step towards more actively communicating with our contractors and stakeholders. Our next steps include a newsletter for the staff and contractors of PRA, a loyalty program and of course consistently personalised one-on-one relations with our contractors," said Gordon. According to Matt Gordon, Co-Director of recruitment firm, Professional Recruitment Australia (PRA), contractor loyalty is the only sustainable way for the future of the ICT recruitment industry. “Research shows that we are heading into an environment in which skills shortage, already visible in Australia’s information and communications technology sector will become critical. Personalised communication and loyalty is the only way to move forward,” Gordon said. “According to the ‘Australian ICT Statistical Compendium 2010’, numbers of domestic ICT students’ enrolments have plunged approximately 42% since 2001. This inexorably means less ICT professionals at a time when demand is high due to technological advances,” Mr Gordon added. Instead of waiting for the inevitable crisis to happen, Gordon said the company had decided to ‘reach for the stars’. “We have recently employed a marketing & communications manager and have put in place numerous communications tools that will be implemented in the coming months. These tools will aim to take a step further toward openness and building longstanding relationship with our contractors, candidates and clients.” “We have always genuinely cared for our contractors. We just decided it was time to be more proactive in demonstrating our loyalty as they have proven theirs over the last few years.” ITWire. http://www.itwire.com/it-people-news/recruitment/49882-contractor-loyalty-critical-for-ict-recruitment | ICT recruiter helps boost e-commerce Recruitment Extra By Lesley Horsburgh September 2011 Domino’s Pizza has announced that sales generated from e-commerce have recently skyrocketed.
